Alex Albon seemed a positive figure when speaking to Williams after driving the new Williams FW45 at Silverstone.
Albon was taking part in a shakedown exercise as part of the car’s launch, where teams are allowed to drive 100km in the new car for filming purposes.
Whilst only being on test tyres, Albon seemed overly positive about the car for the 2023 season, telling 2009 World Champion Jenson Button “I’m actually really happy, I feel like we’ve addressed some of the problems”.
“It’s always gonna be a little bit of a ‘What if?’ until you actually drive the real car.
“I don’t want to speak too soon because maybe we’re not as good as we think we are, but we’re going in the right direction.
“That’s the main thing. We’ve got a good baseline and good platform now to go into Bahrain.”
Whilst we always expect to see positive comments from drivers early on in the season, this seems to be a very happy Albon who will be looking for good performances this season to cement his position on the F1 grid and as a leader for Williams.
What Next For Williams & F1 Pre-season?
After their filming day, Albon and new driver Logan Sargeant will next get behind the wheel in Bahrain on the 23rd of February at the official 2023 pre-season testing sessions.
The first race then takes place the following Sunday, on the 5th of March at the Bahrain International Circuit.
