ⓘReading the classification · How points swing

The classification lists every driver in finishing order from first to last, including retirements. Gap times show the interval behind the race winner. DNF (Did Not Finish) and DNS (Did Not Start) entries score zero points. The fastest lap bonus point is awarded to the top-ten finisher who sets the quickest single lap of the race.

Every Grand Prix reshapes the championship standings. A race win delivers 25 points — the maximum available — while a retirement from a points position can cost a driver the equivalent of several race gaps in a single afternoon. The swing between the top two drivers each race determines whether the title fight opens up or closes down.
