Mercedes Head To Paul Ricard For Pirelli Test

Both George Russell and Lewis Hamilton have joined up with the Mercedes team at Paul Ricard to take part in tyre testing for Pirelli.

With the F1 2023 season starting next month, Pirelli are running three tyre testing sessions that will take place before official pre-season testing in Bahrain.

The aim of these testing sessions is for Pirelli to evaluate their tyres for 2023 on a number of different track conditions.

All teams are offered to take part in the tyre tests, which have strict regulations that teams can’t use their new car, and can only run on a configuration they used during the previous season.

Both George Russell and Lewis Hamilton will be testing the tyres over the next two days, as they have their sights set on coming back strong after a disappointing season last year, which saw Max Verstappen win a second consecutive World Championship.

Alpha Tauri will be taking part in Pirelli tyre testing on the 3rd & 4th of February at Paul Ricard, and both Mercedes and Aston Martin will travel to Jerez for further tests next week.

Official pre-season testing for 2023 then takes place on the 23rd – 25th of February in Bahrain, a week before the season starts at the same circuit.
